What? Wait...WHAT????

So I received my letter of recommendation from Ron, happy moment right? WRONG! I wish I hadn't read what it said. I kept reading it see if perhaps I was over reacting and to some extent I was. However there is still one thing seriously pissing me off,

"Our drama curriculum included these courses: Drama I, Drama II, Drama III, Comedic Acting, Improv Theatre, and Studio Theatre. Miss Nixon had some responsibility in all of the class offerings by the end of her student teaching experience."

SOME??? BULLSHIT RON!!!! How about the fact that I did YOUR work so YOU wouldn't get in trouble with your boss? Or the fact that I wasn't suppose to teach for the first three weeks, but  YOU got sick the second day so I began to teach ALL your classes BY MYSELF! Or how about this! How about when you were sick for two weeks so I had to finish tech and all the runs of Sweeney by myself and finished student teaching WITHOUT YOU!  YOU DIDN'T MENTION ANY OF THOSE THINGS! DID YOU?!

I DID THE GRADING! I WROTE THE LESSONS! I ANSWERED YOUR E-MAILS! I CALLED THE PARENTS!  I WROTE HALF THE CURRICULUM YOU ARE USING NOW IN DRAMA III! You even asked my permission for them and the best thing you can say is that I had good attendance??? WHAT THE FUCK! SCREW YOU!

If I'm as dumb as you paint me to look, why give me an A? Why ask me back to help you with your shows?

I really, really, really want to believe I'm over reacting, but it still sounds the same to me. I'm ok with constructive criticism, I know I'm not perfect and I'm still a beginning teacher, but this just makes me look like a moron.

Now that i finished ranting, I'm not mad anymore, just really hurt.

I don't think it makes you look like a moron, but for how much he seemed to like you and hwo much you did, he certainly could've expanded more. Was there more to the letter or just this paragraph?

If you guys were as friendly as you made it sound- why don't you just ask him to flesh it out a little bit and include more about what you did.

Also, I'm sure employers will directly ask you to expand on your responsibilities in any interviews you might have.

Yea, there was more, but he completely minimized all the work I did. He made me sound passive and that's what bothers me . That sentance basically sums up the overall tone of his letter (I had Jarrett look at it and e-mailed it to the other 4 speech coaches and they all agreed, which made it even worse).

What bothers me the most, however, is the fact that this was written by a friend. I don't expect special treatment, but I do expect the truth. It wasn't at all what he said to me when I left. He told me that I will be a great teacher and that I have a lot of potential, why wasn't that in there???

I did talk to him about it today after calming down and being a bit more rational. I asked him if he could clarify what he wrote and he couldn't even remember. I told him that really hurts and read him that sentance, and asked why he felt I only had some hand in his classes. There was a long pause...then I cried because I couldn't hold it in anymore.

I mean yea, I know he has a show, yea, I know he's being sued for negligence, but that doesn't mean he is justified in rushing my letter to the point he can't remember OR EVEN USE CORRECT SPELLING AND GRAMMAR (another thing of his I always corrected). I asked over a month ago for this, and that really irritates me.

But I digress. Anyway, he felt bad that the letter made me cry and that it shouldn't have and agreed to look over it again and at the very least correct his spelling a grammar.
